PARK CITY - Funeral services for Richard Frank Hales, 71, who died of pneumonia in a Park City hospital Tuesday, anniversary of his birth, will be conducted in the War Veterans Memorial building at 2 p.m. Saturday by John E. Holland, LDS First ward bishop. Interment will be in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake City.

Mr. Hales was born January 13, 1871, a son of Henry and Eliza Ewing Hales, in Enterprise. He lived in Park City 53 years.

Mr. Hales' first employment in Park City was at the Anchor mill of the old Anchor Mining company in Empire canyon. He then was superintendent of the Ontario mill, the Daly Judge mines, and the Ontario mill in succession. Later when the Park Utah Consolidated Mines company combined these mining companies, he held the position of superintendent of its mill at the Judge unit. Mr. Hales retired because of ill health two years ago after 44 years of service.

He is survived by two sons, Mont Richard Hales, Salt Lake City, and William Mansfield Hales, St. Cloud, Minnesota; two sisters, Mrs. George F. Stanley and Mrs. Belle Bailey, both of Park City, and two grandchildren.
