Mary Jane “Janie” (Barker) Westerhold, 90, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs, MO.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 7995 Outer Rd., Odessa, MO, 64076. Janie was born on October 6, 1927 in Odessa, MO to Alva and Lucy (Vawter) Barker. She graduated from Odessa High School. On September 27, 1944 Janie married Lloyd Carl Westerhold in Olathe, KS. He preceded her in death November 6, 2005. Janie was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Eastern Star and the Odessa Saddle and Rodeo Club. She worked at Odessa Garment Factory, Odessa Shoe Factory and retired from Harmon Electronics in Grain Valley, MO. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Janie enjoyed watching and showing at horse shows, trail riding, bowling, and rodeos.
Survivors include three children, Ronnie Westerhold and wife Sally, Barbara Bitnoff and husband Mike both of Blue Springs, MO and Katherine Hontz and husband Ron of Lampe, MO; 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Janie was preceded in death by a son Cecil Westerhold; two grandchildren, Angela Lunceford and Robin Davenport; and a sister Dena Barker-Staples.
