Educator, Principal. Principal at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut during the Sandy Hook School Shooting in 2012. She was ultimately killed trying to stop the shooter.

Born in Towanda, Pennsylvania, she graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Master's in Special Education in 1997. Her initial studies in education began when she attended Central Connecticut State University, graduating with a Bachelor's in Special Education in 1993.

Before her employment as the Principal of Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2010, Dawn had served time as a Special Education Teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School and Schahticoke Middle School. Dawn also held positions as a Principal at Mitchell Elementary School, Nonnewaug High School, and Bethlehem Elementary School before her death.

Dawn leaves behind a husband, two daughters, and three stepdaughters.
