Memorial for Mary Louise Adair Bass, 87, of Nacogdoches will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2018 at First Church of the Nazarene with Dr. Joseph Dagostino III and Dr. Duane Srader officiating. Mrs. Bass died Tuesday, May 22, 2018, in Nacogdoches. She was born Sept. 20, 1930, in Houston.

Mary Louise Adair Bass went to be with her Lord on May 22, 2018. Mary Louise was born in Houston, Texas on September 20, 1930, to Jesse H. Adair and Florence Birmingham Adair. Mary Lou is survived by her daughter Ruth Marie Bowdoin and husband Bobby; a sister, Iva Belle Johnson; granddaughter Melissa Bohanon and husband Brad; grandson Kevin Bowdoin and wife Tabatha; great-grandchildren Brett and Alli Bohanon and Payton and Hunter Bryant Bowdoin; Morgan Wilson; Donald Johnson; Don Adair; Charlie and Sally Pray; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and a loving church family. Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband David "Bryant" Bass and son David Bryant Bass, Jr.; 2 infants; her parents Jesse and Florence Adair and her father and mother-in-law David and Ruth Bass. The Adair family moved to Nacogdoches in 1945. Mary Lou was a 1948 graduate of Nacogdoches High School. She married the love of her life, Bryant Bass in June of 1948. They had a blessed and happy marriage for almost 61 years. Bryant and Mary Lou moved to Houston in 1951. He was drafted in the Korean War from 1952-1954 so Mary Lou came back home to Nacogdoches and lived with her family and worked at Heaberlin's Florist. She and Bryant returned to Houston in 1954 and lived there 31 years. They had 2 children, Ruth Marie and David. Mary Lou loved the Lord with all her heart. She loved her baby sister Iva, her children, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She enjoyed floral work and gardening. She loved to cook and bake. It delighted her heart to be around babies and children of all ages. She loved her Pastor and church family. She had a love for missions. A memorial service for Mary Lou will be held Sunday, May 27, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene, 211 Southeast Stallings Drive with Dr. Joseph Dagostino III and Dr. Duane Srader officiating.
