Avo "Loyce" Lowe Brown, 92 of Claude passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018. Visitation will be Monday, May 28, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home 6969 I 40 E. Private graveside service for family and friends will be Tuesday May 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Claude Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at Fairview immediately following the service. Memorials can be made to the Fairview Community Building in Claude, Claude Cemetery Association or to your favorite charity.
Loyce was born April 9, 1926 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Sarah Isabelle and Felix Clabe Lowe. She graduated from Hollis High School in 1944, attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, transferred to West Texas State College in Canyon where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1955 an a master of Arts degree in 1957. She also attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Strong in her Christian faith as a Baptist scholar, she taught Sunday school, Bible school, Girls Auxiliary, RAs and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union in churches all over the Panhandle and was active in music, missionary work orphan and prison ministry. She became a school teacher and taught all grade levels for 20 years in the public schools throughout the Panhandle including Claude, Strattford, Sanford- Fritch, Borger, McLean and Mobettie.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Bruce Brown in 1989.
She is survived by two daughters Sue Graham and June Cluck; a son Howard Brown all of Claude. Four granddaughters, Bridget Carrillo and Laura Brown, both of Amarillo, Janda Whitaker of Claude; Shara Reardon of Bedford, and two greatgrandchildren Socorra and Joseph Carrillo both of Amarillo.
