Rev. Harrell served pastorates at Bearden, Lake Village, England, Dumas, Stuttgart, Prescott District, Dewitt, Malvern, Newport, Pocahontas and Portland.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. James Christie of Plaquemine, La., and Mrs. Kent Shreeve of Bedford, Mass., four brothers, Olin Harrell of Okmulgee, Okla., Don and John Harrell, both of Camden; and Bert Harrell of Detroit, Mich., one sister Mrs. Jack Cheslick of Detroit; and one grandchild Kenneth Christie.
He was a son of the Rev. J. W. and Anna Williams Harrell and was the fourth generation in his family to serve as a Methodist minister.
Rev. Harrell was a Mason, veteran of World War 1 and was licensed to preach in 1923 and ordained in 1926. He attended Hendrix College and completed his Seminary training at Southern Methodist University getting his B.D. degree there.
Rev. Harrell retired in August 1959 from the Portland church and returned to Camden to live.
His great grandfather, his grandfather and father were all Methodist ministers. His father served as presiding elder in the Camden district and was living in Camden when he died.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the First Methodist Church by Dr. Roy I. Bagley, pastor, assisted by Rev. Kenneth Spore, Rev. John Hefley, Rev. A.J. Christie, Dr. W. Neill Hart.
Active pallbearers will be Rev. Ray Hozendorf, Rev. Charles Ashcraft, Rev. M.W. Miller, Rev. Louis Mulkey, Rev. Willard Burks, and Rev. Noel Cross.
Honorary pallbearers will include all Methodist ministers at the funeral.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with Proctor Funeral Service in charge.
