Felix is the son of James William Coker (1849-1873) and Margaret "Maggie" Jane St. John (1850-1931). James and Maggie married in 1866.

Another son Randolph, was born in 1871 to James and Maggie. James William Coker died in 1873 and is buried in the Milum Cemetery in Lead Hill, Boone County, Arkansas.

In 1876, Margaret "Maggie" Jane married John King Chenoweth. For the 1880 census record of Anderson, Benton, Arkansas, we see Felix and his brother Randolph use the surname of Chenoweth.
