William S. Bowen, 86, of Scottsville, KY went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. The Miami, OK native was a US Navy veteran. He moved with his family to Colorado in 1959 where he opened the H&B Furniture Store business. Years later, he started the ColoChem Corporation which he owned and operated until retiring in Kentucky about 3 years ago. He was the son of the late Thomas and Inez Bowen of OK. William was married to his childhood sweetheart, the late Mavis Aileen Harsha Bowen, for 62 years.

William loved the mountains of Colorado and travelled while selling agricultural and industrial chemicals to mountain ranches, farms, and municipalities all across the front range of Colorado and Wyoming as well as into other bordering states. He enjoyed taking his wife, Aileen, and his children into the mountains for skiing, ice skating, camping, hiking, and picnics. William loved being in the outdoors and in the cool, crisp mountain air. He enjoyed caring for a multitude of pets including his most recent dog, Molly, who was his constant companion. He had an adventuresome spirit and cared deeply about God’s landscape and creations.

William had 4 children. William Spensley Bowen, Jr. was the eldest son, who is deceased. He is survived by one son: Thomas Bowen and wife, Christine, of Douglasville, GA, and two daughters: Carol Hill and husband, Kenneth, of Adolphus, KY, and Deborah Gardner and husband, William, of Charlotte, NC. William is also survived by two younger sisters.

He has 14 grandchildren: Lauren Elaine Troxel, Benjamin Russell Troxel, Carime Anne Reid, Katherine Fern Graves, Edward Cornelius Hill, Jennifer Dawn Gardner Ashton, Sarah Michelle Gardner Ponder, Ruth Alyn Bowen, Andrew Spenser Bowen, Kimberley Adams, Heather Adams, Joseph Guida, Andrew Jeffrey Bowen and Stephanie Elizabeth Bowen.

He also has 15 great grandchildren: Logan, Ethan and Makayla Troxel, Noah and Baylee Troxel, Tanner and River Reid; Alyssa and Chelsea Graves; Joseph, Jack, and Gabriel Adams, Hannah and Natalie Ponder, and Shelby Ashton.

There will be no funeral services at this time as cremation was chosen with burial at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Loveland, CO, next to his wife. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.
