The son of William and Angelica (Baron) Burbank Sylvanus was baptized as Vincendum de Paulo Bourbank in Ste-Anne Catholic Church, Detroit MI (Drouin Collection, p. 3424) but he went by Sylvanus V. Burbank most of his life. At his father's death, Vincent was placed under the guardianship of David Thompson (probate file #3077) along with his other minor siblings, Mary and Henry. He married in 1872 Frances "Fanny", dau. of Dennis & Katherine (Green) MURPHY. On the 1880 Census of Detroit at age 39 he was listed as a store clerk. In 1900 he was a farmer in Canton, Wayne Co. MI at age 60. On the 1910 Census he was still a farmer in Canton, age 70, and he and Frances had been married 35 years. As an 80 year-old widower in 1920 he was enumerated in Detroit with his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn & Henry A. SNOOK.
