The funeral of Leslie Marion Owen, age 48, who died Saturday at his home, 1924 1/2 Fourth avenue, Rock Island, after a 4-day illness of heart disease, was held at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the McGinnis funeral home, Bettendorf, in charge of George H. Sturgis of Rock Island and the Rev. Austin J. Hollingsworth, pastor of Memorial Christian Church of Rock Island. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery, Rock Island.
Pallbearers were members of the Rock Island lodge of Moose; M.G. Welch, Frank VanEmburgh, August F. Eggert, Kiah Chambers, Mont Chambers and Bernard J. Brahm. Mrs. Gertrude E. Jordan sang two hymns, accompanied by R.M. Barclay. The Moose had charge of services at the grave, with Mr. Welch as dictator and Mr. VanEmburgh as prelate.
Mr. Owen, proprietor of a barber shop, had resided in Rock Island for five years. He was a native of Eldorado, Kan. He married Mary Morgan at Ottumwa, Iowa, April 20, 1914, and she survives with a daughter, Vera, and two sons, Leslie Jr., and Mark. Four brothers and three sisters also survive.
