Jackson, TN - Richard Daniel Drewry Sr., age 104, passed peacefully March 27, 2018, in Jackson, Tennessee. He was born in Greenfield, Tennessee September 30, 1913 to Henry Allen and Dora Dewberry Drewry. He moved to Jackson as a child, then lived away for several years. Richard returned to work as a mechanic's helper and opened an automobile repair service in the late 1930s. He began a used car business in 1955. Until his retirement at age 102 in 2016, he was in the automobile business in Jackson for almost 80 years. In recognition for his dedication to the City of Jackson, he was presented a Key to the City by Mayor Gist in June 2017.

Richard served in the US Army and was stationed in Okinawa during the later stages of World War II. He was married for 65 years to Opal Lovett Drewry, who predeceased him. He is also predeceased by daughter Shirley Drewry Weatherington. He is survived by son Richard Drewry Jr. (Linda), five grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. The family extends special thanks to Polly Newsom, Richard's loyal friend and caretaker.

Richard lived in the Bemis community for over seven decades. He was a member of Bemis United Methodist Church for over 60 years and proudly served as Sunday School Superintendent for 37 years. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, April 2, 2018, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Lawrence-Sorenson Funeral Home with services to follow at 12:00 pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bemis United Methodist Church.
