Freeman W. Coggins, 60, of 1838 West Buchanan Drive, a former employee of Copeland Co. Inc., died in Richland Memorial Hospital Friday. He was born in Ehrhardt, a son of the late Arthur B. and Pauline Wescoat Coggins. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a veteran of World War II. He was associated with Marshall's Clothing Store for 30 years and more recently with Copeland Co., Inc. He retired in 1973. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Betty Swygert Coggins; four sons, Freeman W. Coggins, Jr., Thomas A. Coggins, William W. Coggins and John W. Coggins of Columbia; a sister, Mrs. Jack M. (Sarah) Wilhelm of Columbia and a brother, A. Sidney Coggins of Ehrhardt. Services will be 4 p.m. today at the graveside in Greenlawn Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Leroy C. Trexler and the Rev. Dr. John L. Yost. The family requests that those who wish may make memorials to the Lowman Home at White Rock or to the American Cancer Society.
