Mr. W. Taylor Boyd, 80, died at a local hospital yesterday. Funeral service tomorrow at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel and burial in Forrest Cemetery. Mr. Boyd was a native of Chambers County, Alabama and came to Gadsden in 1942. He formerly travelled throughout Alabama and Mississippi as a mortuary representative and built a funeral home on South 5th Street in Gadsden. He was appointed postmaster in Gadsden in 1950 and served until his retirement in 1965. After retirement, he was with the Etowah County reappraisal program. He was a member of numerous organizations and one of the most active members of Gadsden Quarterback Club. Mr. Boyd was a Sunday School teacher for 20 years at First Baptist Church, Gadsden. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lothair Daniel Boyd; a daughter; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother and sisters. Collier-Butler Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
