South Jordan, Utah - Brent Lee Birtcher passed away on May 14, 2018 in Salt Lake City, UT.
He was born on May 7, 1938 in Roosevelt, Utah to Florence Shirley and Harold Arthur Birtcher. He married Valerie Haymore in 1963 and together they had 9 children. They later divorced and he remarried Emily Miles on July 29, 2004.
He attended the University of Utah and then transferred to BYU. He graduated from BYU in Political Science in 1963. He taught at the University of North Dakota. Following he attended Oxford University where he graduated with a doctorate in City Planning. He liked woodworking, dog training and with his brother Gary they remodeled their mothers home inside and out for her retirement. He was an avid reader on many topics, he especially enjoyed church history and politics.
Survived by his wife Emily, his children Jess Brent Birtcher (Casandra), Shawn Birtcher (deceased 1981), Barbara Jill Clark, Jennifer Lee Birtcher (James), Brian David Birtcher (Annette), Amy Lee Birtcher ( Kirk), Megan Hill ( Jesse), Julie Belle Birtcher, Chelsea Jane Birtcher and brother Gary Birtcher ( Susan).
Preceded in death by his father Harold, his mother Florence and his son Shawn.
Services will be:
Saturday May 19th at Country Crossing 8th Ward 11122 Black Hawk Drive South Jordan, UT 84095
11-11:45am- Viewing
12-1pm- Funeral Service
1:30 graveside service- Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery
