A Funeral Service will be celebrated Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 1:00 pm at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Bennett Joseph Savoie, 83, who passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Pelican Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Milton.

Visitation will be observed on Saturday, May 19, 2018, from 9:00 am until the time of service, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette.

Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.

Reverend Keith Landry, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in New Iberia, will officiate.

Bennett was born March 13, 1935, in Cankton, LA and was a life-time resident of Acadiana. He worked as a truck driver for Oilfield Rental Tools of Lafayette for over 30 years. He retired with Patterson Rentals Tools of Lafayette. Bennett’s passion was driving his 18-wheeler across the USA. His fondest memories were about his truck driving days. He also enjoyed dancing. Bennett proudly served his country in the Louisiana National Guard and was a member of the American Legion. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Bennett is survived by his son, Robert Lee Savoie and his partner, Neal Olivier of Carencro; his daughter, Gwen Miller and her husband, Troy of Milton; his companion, Ethel Thibodeaux of Church Point; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Earlene Romero; his son, Micheal Savoie; his parents, George and Beulah Savoie; his stepmother, Dermadez Venable; two brothers, Gary Savoie and Paul Elwood Savoie; his sister-in-law, Frances Savoie and his daughter-in-law, Julie Domingue.

Pallbearers will be Robert Savoie, Neal Olivier, Darren Dugas, Troy Miller, Devin Dugas and Dillon Dugas.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Pelican Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Milton for the compassionate care given to Bennett and his family.
