He was a Carpenter and Farmer according to Census records. He married Vera Lavica Lovisa "Visie" Lout who was born in Mexican Texas/San Augustine area. They married on or about 4 January 1847. Some researchers believe that he and his wife are buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, in Center, Shelby County, Texas as some of their children are, but I have not proven that he or his wife are buried here.
In 1850 he and Visey are living with his father Burwell Eaves along with their children. In 1860 he and Visey live in San Augustine, Texas.
In April, 1862 he served as a Pvt, Co. C, 27th Texas Calvary according to the NARA. In Jan 26, 1863 he is listed as being 4th Corporal in the 3rd Brigade of the Civil war. He did receive a pension for his service.
In 1870 he is in San Augustine County with his wife Lavica and 8 Children. He stayed in Shelby and San Augustine county until his death about 1912.
