Alice “Peggy” Keupp, age 88, of Madison, formerly of Wentworth, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison. Funeral service will be 1:30 PM on Thursday, May 17th at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Wentworth with Rev. Adam Welton officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Wednesday at Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Alice Eileen Ulmer was born June 1, 1929 in Sioux Falls, the daughter of Jacob & Lilly (Abraham) Ulmer. She graduated from Wentworth High School and then attended the SD Hairstyling Academy in Sioux Falls. After completing the academy, she worked at a salon in Shriver’s Dept. Store. While living in Sioux Falls, she met Lester Keupp and they were married February 26, 1951 in Luverne, MN. They made their home in Sioux Falls for the first few years and eventually moved to Wentworth in 1954. She worked at Opal Questad’s salon for several years before starting at the Wentworth Post Office. While Peggy worked at the Wentworth Post Office she would occasionally help at the Madison Post Office. In 1981, she became Postmaster in Wentworth and worked there until her retirement in 1994. Peggy was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and was active in the Altar Guild, choir, Sunday School and quilting club. Her favorite activity in her spare time, she is known around the area for her knitting. She has knitted countless items for people throughout the area. Peggy is survived by her son, Craig (Nancy) Keupp of Tucson; daughter, Deb (Terry) Reck of Wentworth; son, Todd (Carmen) Keupp of Colman; daughter, Sue (Gary) Page of Sioux Falls and son, Kirk (Roxanne) Keupp of Sioux Falls; 15 grandchildren, Dan (Tiana) Keupp, Jennifer Hourscht, Kory (Melissa) Reck, Kasey (Stacy) Reck, Kara (Erik) Krumm, Katie Cacho, Annie Keupp, Sarah (Danny) Bligh, Laura (Mark) Bult, Natalie (Dustin) Hahne, Alyse Page, Kyle (Tami) Van Heerde, Andrea Keupp, Jenna (Marvin) Smoot and Tony (Ashley) Keupp; 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; sister, Lenora Balsiger of California; sister-in-law, Marilyn Ulmer of Sioux Falls and many other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Donald & Elroy Ulmer.
