REVIA'S OBITUARY

Revia Adel Alvis Vitousek
, 94, passed away at Via Christi Villages in Pittsburg, Kansas on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 listening to Nat King Cole. She was a spitfire, avid hand holder and crowd favorite.

Revia was born September 27, 1923 in Logan, Iowa.

She spent her young life without her parents moving throughout Iowa, Idaho, California and Nebraska helping raise her younger siblings.

Revia married Emmett Vitousek on July 23, 1945 in Elko, Nevada.

They lived in Idaho and California before settling in southeast Kansas in the early 1950s. Throughout her life, Revia took on the responsibilities of babysitter, cook, waitress, housekeeper, seamstress and even a caretaker of dogs. Once settled, she became a mother.

As a mother, Revia used the lessons learned during her challenging youth to create a happy and healthy home that valued hard work and resourcefulness. She loved Louis Lamour westerns, home cooking, anything related to chickens and, most of all, her family. She raised three strong, resilient daughters who, in turn, gave her three similarly characterized granddaughters and one grandson. As her family grew, son-in-laws included, no one questioned how much they were loved.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Emmett, daughter, Sandy Rhinehart McNew, 4 sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her children Susan Coman (Bill) of Columbus and Sherri Stephens (Jeff) of Pittsburg, grandchildren Katie Aalders (Derek) of Wichita, Maggie Stephens of Kansas City, Missouri, Bennie Capron of Columbus, Mollie Stephens of Kansas City, Missouri, great-grandchildren Case Capron and Berklee Capron, one brother, Bill (Ruth), Austin, TX.

A service is set for 2:00 pm on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Spring Hill Cemetery in Parsons, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to American Cancer Society Hope Lodge - Kansas City, 1120 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64105 or Oswego First United Methodist Church, 204 Illinois Street, Oswego, Kansas 67356.
