Arthur was the son of William McHenry "Henry" Armes and Lillie Byars. Arthur married Bertha Mai Hammonds in 1913. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I. For Arthur's obituary, see THE TENNESSEAN Newspaper (Nashville, TN, Wednesday, 22 February 1967, Page 42).
