MRS W. J. EDDINS Obituary
This community was shocked and grieved Friday afternoon when the news passed quickly around that Mrs. W. J. Eddins, of the Pine Grove section, had died suddenly.
Mrs. Eddins was in her 57th year and was apparently in her usual good health.
She was a woman of the finest Christian character and besides numerous relatives was greatly loved by a host of friends.
Mrs. Eddins lived with two of her younger sons, who are students of the high school here, and during school hours she had a small Negro boy to attend to odd jobs around the house, so there was no one to summon aid or to even know that she was near danger. The two boys came home from school and found the lifeless body on the floor still warm. Medical aid was summoned as soon as possible, but to no avail, as life was extinct.
Mrs. Eddins is survived by seven children: Mrs. D. C. Rivers, C. J. Eddins, C. L. Eddins, G. W. Eddins, E. B. Eddins, Bruce and Willie Eddins; her mother, Mrs. W. J. Bittle; and one brother, J. H. Bittle, all of Chesterfield; and two sisters, Mrs. Cleo Hildreth of Hoffman, Va., and Mrs. Allie Biggs of Cheraw. Funeral services were held Saturday at 4 o'clock at the family burial grounds.
