Tommy Eldon Cureton, 77, of Oregon St., Carlsbad, NM, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at UMC in Lubbock, TX. Cremation will take place and a Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at West Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Tony Dominguez of San Jose Catholic Church officiating.
Tommy Eldon Cureton was born June 4, 1940 in Cove, Arkansas to Cecil and Rena Mae Cureton. He moved to New Mexico in 1942. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1959, and then he went to work at PCA Potash Mine. Tommy was vice president of the Steelworkers Union Local 177, on Negotiation Committee, Grievance Committee, and safety and welfare. He retired in 1985, and then became Chairman of PCA Retirees Insurance. Tommy married Donna Wooldridge in 1961. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Tommy was preceded in death by his wife Donna Cureton, brothers Burrel and Earl Cureton.
He is survived by his brothers Bud and Terry Cureton, sister Dawina Wilson, children Cheryl Mayrhophen, Tom Cureton, Misty Lewis, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
