Verda Louella Albrecht, 81, of Glendale, Ariz., died quietly in her sleep at Glencroft Assisted Living.
She was born in Pigeon, to Kaythrn and Emanuel Albrecht.
Verda earned her registered nurse diploma at Lewistown, Penn. in 1955. After practicing nursing for several years, Verda completed her bachelors degree in nursing at EMC in Harrisonburg, Va. in 1965. Her nursing interests took her to Hayden, Ky., to the Frontier Graduate School of Midwifery, where she earned her diploma in Midwifery in 1966. Verda settled in the Southwest, where she delivered more than 1,200 babies. Verda spent her life serving others with her nursing skills.
For relaxation, she took up photography and spent hours photographing the desert, mountains, plants, animals and birds.
Verda is survived by brothers, Nevin Albrecht of Goshen Ind. and E.J. Albrecht of Forest Grove, Ore.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and siblings, Roy, Norma and Erlis.
A memorial service was conducted Dec. 5, 2012, at Glencroft Manor I with family and friends in attendance.
