Christopher Clay Atkins, 52, of Paris died Friday, April 27, 2018, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. No cause of death was given.

A private memorial service will be held in Paris. Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Pike in Nashville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Atkins was born on June 24, 1965, in Paris to George Clay Atkins and Doris Anita (Jennings) Atkins, both now deceased.

Atkins graduated from Henry County High School and received a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1988 from Murray State University.

He was hired by Stanley D. Lindsey and Associates in Nashville 20 years ago. Prior to coming to Nashville in 1988, he was employed with Williams Steel in Jackson for 10 years.

Family members said Atkins was an avid NASCAR fan who also loved his homestead, the outdoors and Henry County football.

He is survived by a sister, Sallieann Atkins of Cincinnati, Ohio; and longtime friends, Kathryn and Chuck “Country” Wilson.

He also was preceded in death by a brother, James Kevin Atkins; and a sister, Cecelia Marsh Atkins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Paris Fire Department.
