Velta was born April 2, 1938 in Dalhart, (County?), TX to Joe and Jewel Pinner. She went on to be with her Lord and Savior May 2, 2018 at her residence in Yukon, Oklahoma surrounded by her loving family.

Her family moved to Oklahoma when she was 5 years old. Velta attended several rural schools while her father worked as a share cropper. In the fifth grade the family settled down in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma where she would finish high school.

She entered the state nursing program at Oklahoma General Hospital in Clinton, Oklahoma. It was while attending classes at Southwestern Oklahoma State University she met the love of her life Jim. They were married November 26, 1961 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. Velta and Jim had three children born to this union John Robert Morlan, Joe Karl Morlan, and Julie Suzanne Morlan.

Following graduation they moved to Woodward, Oklahoma where she worked at the hospital. Three years later they moved to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in Amarillo Texas where Jim taught school and Velta was ranch nurse to 350 boys. Three years later wanting to be closer to family they moved back to Elk City, Oklahoma. Velta worked at Hodges Nursing \Home for a short time before being called to the hospital as director of nurses.

Later in her career she worked for Dr. Friesen, Perkins, and Phelps, Health Watch Home Care and Hospice, Bell Ave Nursing Home, and Elkwood Assisted Living Center.

Velta is survived by two sons; John Morlan, Joe Morlan and his wife Amber all of Weatherford, Oklahoma; daughter, Julie Morlan of Yukon, Oklahoma.; two grandsons Cooper and Cord Morlan of Weatherford, Oklahoma; sister Thelma Kipe of Potaskla, Ohio; two brothers Bobby Pinner and wife Meri of Council Hill, Oklahoma, Sammy Pinner and wife Ruby of Henryetta, Oklahoma. Sister-in-law, Sue Moore and husband her Dewayne of Leedey, Oklahoma; Nephew, Larry and his wife Lorri Moore and their daughters Emily and Alison of Hammon, Oklahoma; many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Velta is preceded in death by her husband Jim, parents Joe and Jewel Pinner, Also four brothers Adrian, Joe, JD, Glen and one sister Athalee Brown.

Velta loved her God and family and was witnessing to the very end. Velta loved Basketball and talking to her family and friends about sports. Nursing held a very special place in her heart and was something she was truly called to do.

Funeral services: Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Interment: Fairlawn Cemetery.
