Georgia Ann Caroline Bowman Reed was the daughter of John Lewis Bowman and his wife Matilda Blackburn.

She was born the 19th of March in 1835 in Abbeville County, South Carolina.

In 1840, her family was living in Benton County, Alabama and between 1850 and 1860, they migrated to Brazos County, in the confederate State of Texas.

On 11 Apr 1858, she became the second wife of Wilson Reed Sr., and bore him seven (7) additional children. His first wife Mary Ann "Polly" Carter, died in 1857 leaving him seven (7) known (possibly 8) children. They were married in Brazos County, where he lived and farmed.

Georgia's parents are buried in Mooreville Cemetery in Falls County, Texas.

Mrs. G. A. C. Reed died yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. T. J. Preston, in this city after a ten days illness. Mrs. Reed was the widow of Mr. Wilson Reed, Sr., who died in this county in 1883. She was a native of Alabama and came to Texas in 1857. She had resided in Brazos county about 44 years. Mrs. Reed made her home with her sister, Mrs. Morris, at Eddy, McLennan county and was here on a visit. She also leaves a sister in Falls county, she leaves four children, Messrs Louis, Lee and Jeff Reed and Mrs. T. J. Preston. She was a member of the Methodist church and a devoted christian whose life was marked by good deeds. Her age was 66 years, 3 months, and 23 days.
Funeral services will be held this morning at 10 o'clock at the residence of Mr. Preston. The burial will take place at the Reed graveyard, six miles north of town. (Bryan Morning Eagle, Bryan, Tex, July 3, 1902)
