Ellison DuRant Smith, III, 80, passed away peacefully on May 1st, 2018 in Greenville, SC. He is preceded in death by his daughter Louise and mother and father Laura Douglas and Charles Saxon Farley Smith. Ellison grew up at Tanglewood Plantation in Lynchburg, South Carolina. He is the grandson of former Senator Ellison DuRant Smith.
He moved to Greenville, SC in 1968 and founded Caper House convenience stores. After having success and failure at building companies, he discovered his true happiness was connecting with people. He drew great strength from reading the Bible and sharing his favorite readings with others.
