Marriner Dell Ashcroft
October 22, 1933 - April 29, 2018
Marriner Dell Ashcroft passed away April 29, 2018, in Logan, Utah. He was born Oct. 22, 1933, to Henry Dell and Myrle Thurston Ashcroft. He grew up in Hyde Park, Utah, where he learned the value of hard work, helping his parents on the family farm. He graduated from North Cache High School and attended Utah State University before being drafted into the Army. He married the love of his life, LouAnn Sheen, on April 30, 1954, in the Logan LDS Temple. She preceded him in death in August of 1998.
He was employed in the freight delivery business, working for IML and ABF freight, where he made many friendships. He set a wonderful example for his family of service, always devoting his time and talents to others. Marriner was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church callings. He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and had a firm testimony. Marriner and LouAnn were a team and were supportive of their family and each other. Very seldom did you hear Marriner's name without LouAnn's. Dad loved music, camping, fishing, walking and his family. His favorite place was Tony Grove Lake in Logan Canyon, where he would spend many hours enjoying the beauties of nature. He treasured his visits with his Hyde Park neighbors and friends. His family will be forever grateful for their many acts of service.
He leaves behind five children: Jolene (GlenRay) Zilles, College Ward, UT; Rick (Jill Passey) Ashcroft, Clarkston, UT; Tresa Beyer, Sandy, UT; Kimberly (Phillip) Foley, Louisville, KY; Greg (Julie Rich) Ashcroft, Smithfield, UT. His 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren will miss him dearly. He is also survived by two sisters, Wanda Smith and Annette Winn. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two brothers, Rulon and Adrian.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Anna and Kelly with IHC Homecare and Hospice as well as the staff of Legacy House of Logan for their kindness and care.
