Graduate of Erskine College where he was very active in the Drama Club and portrayed 'Black Beard' at Pirate Land in Myrtle Beach and received a Masters Plus 30 at Converse College.
Retired from teaching 8th Grade at D. R. Hill Middle School in Duncan, SC.
Attended Morningside Baptist Church and was a member of Washington Street Baptist Church, Pelzer, SC; was the Senior Boy of the Year, played baseball, and was a member of the Drama Club at Woodmont High School in Pelzer; loved the Western channel and to watch wrestling in all languages.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Wood Chandler; daughter, Merri Chandler of Tryon, NC; step-children, Ronald D. Hall Jr. of Marietta, GA and Tresh Crosby (Daniel) of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Cameron, Loran, and Gavin Hall, McKenna, Silas, Cullen, and Anna Crosby, and Dylan Langston; sister, Carolyn Van Lear (David) of Clemson, SC; nephew, Chris Thompson; and niece, Melanie Thompson.
Predeceased by his canine companions, Humphrey C. and Dixie B. Star.
Visitation was 12:30-1:30 PM Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
Memorial service followed at 2:00 PM, conducted by Mrs. Tresh Crosby, Mr. Daniel Crosby, and Mr. Ronald D. Hall, Jr.
