He was the son of Robert Thomas and Nann Stephens Beard. He grew up in Quinton and married Dorothy May Wisdom in 1932. He had lived in McAlester the past 25 years and was a landscaper. Survived by three sons, James Beard of McAlester, illy Joe Beard of Sperry, and Bobby Ray Beard of Broken Arrow; two daughters, Dolly Bernice Gibson of Tulsa, and Hazel Longcrier of Commerce. He was preceded in death by his wife; two daughters, Betty Lee Harrison and Marcella Hill; and a sister, Emmer Beard.
