June Kastner Barker of Mattituck died February 3, 2012. She was 89 years old.
She was born in Flushing NY on Dec 8, 1922 to William and Elsie Kastner. After graduating from Flushing High School, she married William L Barker Jr on May 24, 1942 in Mattituck.
June worked as a cafeteria cashier for the Mattituck School District for 17 years and was a member of the CSEA. In the community she was a member of the Southold Town Republican Club and Mattituck Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon and involved in the Women's Circles.
Predeceased by her husband on July 5, 2005, she is survived by her children, Sandy Dries (Frank) of Clayton Del, and Bill Barker (Judy) of Mattituck; three grandchildren, Gail Dries Ford (Rich), Jaci Dries Hugg (David) and Lyndsey Barker; great-grandchildren Doug Wallace, Travis Ford, Samantha Ford and Aly Wallace; a sister-in-law Lois W Barker of Mattituck; a niece Ellen B Kren of Mattituck and a nephew Robert S Barker of New York City. She was also predeceased by her sister Gertrude Kastner Mikulcik.
Graveside services were held on February 6 at new Bethany Cemetery in Mattituck. Caren Heacock of Mattituck Presbyterian Church officiated. Funeral arrangement were entrusted to DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck.
