Bonnie was born in Boomer, North Carolina and the daughter of Benjamin Billard and Nancy Margaret Gentry Gross. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post No. 3905 in Kaufman serving as past president. She was the 2nd wife of Glen Douglas Thompson SR, since 1958, also of Kaufman and who preceded her in death. She had one daughter and one son.
