Alan owned and operated The Astle Company of Whitefield, NH for many years; and for several years, he and his wife, Susan, owned and operated The Uncommon Collection Antique Shop in Whitefield. Alan was a Charter Member and active life member of the Whitefield Lions Club and was the Guiding Lion in the founding and chartering of the Lancaster Lions Club. He was a former member of the Whitefield Historical Society and the Benevolent Order of the Elks in Littleton. He was a lifelong member of the Community Baptist Church in Whitefield. He was an avid skier and was a member of the Ski Patrol at Cannon Mountain in Franconia for a number of years.
He is survived by a daughter, Marcy K. Verrone and husband David of Mendon, MA; a son Scott T. Astle and wife Gina of Conway, NH; four grandchildren, Carly, Tanner, Matthew, and John; a sister, Carlee Astle Noecker and husband Marshall of Sarasota, FL; three sisters-in-law, Maryclare H. Quigley and husband Eddie of Whitefield, Anne H. Jones and husband David of Marlborough, CT; and Joanne G. Hennessey of Dalton, NH; a special cousin, Jeannie Knight and husband Ben of Guildhall, VT.
He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Susan (Hennessey) Astle, in 1994 and by a brother-in-law, Herbert Hennessey Jr.
