Charlotte was the second child born to Charlotte Jenkins and John Cole, who had married at Nauvoo as LDS Church members were seeking asylum in the west.
This infant daughter was not able to escape the unhealthy conditions suffered by the Saints who had taken respite at what was then called "Winter Quarters".
She was buried in an unmarked plot at the Pioneer Cemetery.
Her parents had to struggle until the summer of 1850 before they could move their little family on to the Great Salt Lake Valley, where they finally settled at what was then named "Willow Creek" located in Box Elder County, Utah.
