Wilford Arthur "Willie D." Dunster, died in Klamath Falls, Ore., on April 25, 2018, at the age of 87.

Willie was born on Aug. 1, 1930, in Portland, Ore., to Freeman and Tressa Dunster. He graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1949. While there, he played varsity baseball and played in several semi-pro leagues in Klamath Falls.

In 1948, while still in high school, Willie joined the Army Oregon National Guard. He served at total of 41 years and nine months between the Guard, Army, and Army Reserves. He retired at the rank of major.
Willie became involved with Babe Ruth Baseball as a coach in 1959 and won six league championships. He then became the president of the Babe Ruth League, and later, state and regional commissioner.

Willie helped the late Sherm Ackerman bring the 1968 (age 13-15) Babe Ruth Baseball World Series to Klamath Falls. In 1972, he spearheaded a project to completely renovate Wright Field at KUHS.

He also worked for Klamath Falls Creamery for 30 years.
In addition to baseball, his favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing and collecting antiques.

Willie is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Marvin and Carrie Dunster; daughter and son-in-law Anita and Howard Palms; six grandchildren; 16 grea- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father Freeman in 1951, mother Tressa in 1960, and his first wife Adeline Alvarez Dunster in 1952.
