James “Jim” Callis, 75 year old resident of Colcord, Oklahoma, died April 29, 2018 at his home in Colcord, Oklahoma. Born January 27, 1943, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, he was the son of Jasper Benjamin Callis and Ada Opal Swicegood Callis. Jim married Helen Haffelder on September 11, 1999. He was a 1961 Colcord High School graduate and enlisted in the USMC 1961-1966. He worked lifelong as a diesel, construction, automotive, and farm equipment mechanic. He was a lifetime member of DAV and a 14 year member of American Legion. Jim’s hobbies included building maintenance, gardening and tractor restoration. Jim will be fondly remembered as a husband, father and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Helen; daughters Cammie Byrd and husband Mike of Springdale, Arkansas, Amber McCormick and husband Joey of Siloam Springs, Arkansas and Misty Dye; five grandchildren, Asa, Patton, Kendall, Holden and Blaine; step daughter Donna Treat and husband Frosty of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; step grandchildren Chad and J.D.; step great grandchildren Maria, Allison and William.
