Beverly Jane De Mille, age 82, of Fond du Lac, passed away with a room stuffed full of those who loved her best on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Mom was born the daughter of central Wisconsin farmers, Walter and Lydia Beck, on June 25, 1935.

She spent her summers wearing pig tails and playing barefoot; managing chickens, cows and farm cats. Mom learned how to drive a tractor at the young age of 9 when the family transitioned from farming with horses. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids in 1953, and married the father of her children. Mom moved to California when he returned from Korea. She worked in various administrative jobs and developed lifelong friendships with her coworkers. She was so proud to introduce her family to one lifelong friend when the family vacationed in California, which included a personal tour of Chinatown and San Francisco.

When her children were born, she performed traditional 1970’s housewife and mother duties making sure dinner was ready by 5:00 and all the kids were in the house by the time the streetlights came on. Mom was the master planner of amazing summer vacations and holiday gatherings. Once her children were old enough, Mom went back to work. She finished her work career as an administrative assistant, working for Fond du Lac County in both the Clerk of Courts and County Planning. In retirement, Mom and her husband, Jerry, traveled to many parts of the world through the wonderful guides of Tom’s Christian Tours.

Mom is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jerry De Mille; a blended family of six children, Scott (Chrissy) Stelmacher, Todd (Linda) Stelmacher, John De Mille, Michelle (Brian) Donnelly, Becky (Andy) Heldt and Julie (Dave) Braun. She spoiled ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Gina (Brian) Van Lanen, Michael and Bryce Donnelly, Kyle and Cassidy Welhouse, Matt and Chad Heldt, Maggie Stelmacher, McKenzie and Kendal Braun, and Savannah Sheldon-Donnelly.

Mom was so blessed to receive such compassionate and competent care from both Adelaide House and Agnesian Hospice House. They brought all of us peace and comfort during her experience with dementia and stroke.

Mom, we will miss your Saturday morning pancakes, pecan pies, and holiday spreads. You were always there for us, and we can only hope you felt us there for you in the final steps of your journey.
