Louise enjoyed a long and varied life. She was Valley High Schools valedictorian of 1941. She met her husband Galen on a train to Fort Leonardwood while visiting her Aunt and Uncle. She was a Clerk of Valley Junction before marriage, and after time off to raise her children, she worked as a bookkeeper for multiple lumber companies including Midwest Lumber and Iltis Lumber Co.
After retirement Louise loved exploring thrift stores, collecting dolls and teddy bears, embroidery, and her favorite television shows, Jeopardy and the Dog Whisperer.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Blanche and Harry Graves, husband Galen, her second husband Harry Sloane, her brother Harold Graves and two of his children and her longtime companion Russ Osen, and is survived by her children Cheryl and Steven McKearney. She was also related by marriage to the Chatfields of Collinsville, IL and St. Louis, Mo., the McKearneys of Dows, IA, the Halls of Nevada, IA, the Sloanes of Berwick, IA, the Osens of Anita, IA and the Graves of Des Moines, IA and WI.
Visitation services will be at Brooks Funeral Care on 7975 University Blvd Clive at 9 am Monday 4/24/17 with Funeral services to follow at 10 am the same day.
Attendees are welcomed to a luncheon at Famous Dave's on 22nd Street in Clive after the service.
Floral tributes are welcomed but in lieu, contributions may be made to A.R.L. of Iowa.
