Last Saturday occurred the death of Oscar Allen, a life long resident of the western part of the town. Mr. Allen was one of three sons born to Octavus and Ruah Allen and is the last surviving member of the family. He was in his seventy-fifth year and was born in the same locality where he died and where most of his life had been spent as a quiet, industrious farmer. He was married to Miss Betsey Herring and to them were born a son Gilford and a daughter Miss Kitty Allen who survive their parents and have in every way ministered to their comfort. Oscar Allen was a veteran of the Civil War and sailed for a season or so on the lakes. The funeral was held from the home, Tuesday. Rev. T.T. Davies officiating. Burial was in the family plot in Woodlawn cemetery
