Melinda Rose Adkins, 81, of Hansford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at CAMC Memorial surround by her loving family.
She was born in Chelyan, WV, to the late Robie and Mable Kirk. Melinda was an avid bowler and had a love for gardening. She not only loved and raised her children but help raise and care for her neighbor's children too.
Melinda will be missed by her children, Jay Allen Adkins (Cathy) and Tina Hutchinson (Burt); a sister, Gypsie Roberts; brothers, Kenneth and Malcom Kirk; grandchildren, Robert Cervera (Erica), Kelly Green (Jay), Ereka Botkin (Jeremy), Samuel Green II, and Whitney Gleaves (Joseph); six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; son-in-law, Samuel Green.
In addition to her parents, Melinda was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Arthur "J.R." Adkins Jr.; daughter, Elisa Green; sisters, Barbara Thompson, Frances Keeney, and Doris Gwinn; brothers, Robie Kirk Jr., Bill Kirk, and Duffy Kirk.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, April 30, at Pryor Funeral Home. Funeral service will promptly begin at 1 p.m., with Pastor Robert Darren officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Cooperstown Family Cemetery in Cooperstown, WV. Arrangements entrusted to Pryor Funeral Home.
