"Mrs. George Everett (Alta Marie) McCullough, Wheeling, died at 9:15 o'clock Sunday night in the Chillicothe hospital, where she was admitted on Saturday. She had been in failing health since September and seriously ill two days. She was 66.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the chapel of the Norman Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Wheeling Cemetery.

Alta Marie Batson, daughter of Samuel R. Batson and Margaret Batson, was born April 20, 1900, in Spickard. She resided in Grundy County until 1960, at which time she moved to Wheeling for a residence. She attended rural schools in Grundy County and was a member of the Laredo Baptist Church. On July 29, 1916, she was married to George Everett McCullough at Trenton.

In addition to Mr. McCullough, she leaves two daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Donna) Childs of Mesa, Ariz., and Mrs. Maurice (Hattie) Hapes of Chula; four brothers, Roy Batson of Hale, Jake Batson and Albert Batson of Chillicothe and Charlie Batson of Abingdon, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Alexander of Chillicothe; and three grandchildren."
