Jeremiah Campbell was a soldier in the Black Hawk War. He removed from Tennessee to Ray Co., Missouri, in the year 1836, and settled about ten miles northeast of Richmond, where he farmed the land. Jeremiah and Elizabeth were consistent members of the "old School" Baptist Church.
He and his wife were buried on their homestead.
