When he and his family crossed the border into the United States on December 3, 1923 Cameron and his older sister Winona where not counted with their parents. In 1940 all aliens had to register. His father took Cameron and Winona to the post office to be finger printed, given an alien number and card which he was to keep with him at all times. Only when he entered into service with the military of the United States was given his citizenship to the U.S.
Cameron served during World War II and for awhile after the war. He was a cook. He married Janita Dewberry together they had two sons.
