Funeral services were to be held at the William Cook Brooks Funeral Home for Dr James E. McFarland, retired Baltimore dentist. Burial was to be in Druid Ridge cemetery. Dr McFarland died Monday at the Chesapeake Manor Nursing home after a long illness. Before his retirement about 3 years ago, Dr. McFarland had a practice on Edmondson Ave in Hunting Ridge area for over 55 years. He and his wife, the former Ida E. Johnson, made their home in the Hunting Ridge area all their married lives. Mrs McFarland died in 1955.


Born in Westernport, Dr McFarland received his education at Baltimore City Dental College now Maryland School of Dentistry. He was a member of the Maryland Dental Society and American Dentist Society and several alumni associations of the University of Maryland. He is survived by one son, James d. McFarland and two grandson.
