Elinor Marie Conyers, 76, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018.
Visitation will be Monday, April 30, 2018, from 6-8pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at South Point Cemetery, Orrick, MO.
Marie was born December 12, 1941, in Kearney, MO. She is the daughter of the late Stanton S and the late Billie L (Burke) Burriss. She married John Eldon Conyers on September 4, 1966 in Richmond, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 26, 2016.
Marie was a "tough as nails" person. She was a breast cancer survivor and described by many as the strongest person they knew. As tough as she was, she was still the most loving mother and grandma. She always had her family over for Sunday dinners. She was the best cook, as is evident with the size of her three sons. She enjoyed spending time with her best friend, Yvonne, shopping, garage saling, and attending the grandkids' events. A lot of people probably didn't know Marie was a doctor…at least according to her husband John. He referred to her as "Doc Conyers" since she always let him know when to go to the doctor and take his medicine. She had a sarcastic sense of humor and a "tell it like it is" personality. She never put herself first, and would help anyone that needed it. She was an animal lover and always took in strays. She had impressive flower beds that she spent hours tending to. She was proud of her children and grandchildren. Marie lived her life knowing what was important…patience, love, and family.
She is survived by three sons, six grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers. Marie is also survived by many nieces and nephews
