IDABEL, Okla. – Robert Earnest Barnes 76, of Idabel, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the By-Pass Church of Christ in Idabel with Roy Risley and Joe Clarty officiating. Burial will be in Dennison Cemetery in Idabel.
He was born in Idabel after the city received its name. He was a builder and rancher, a lifelong resident of Idabel and a member of the By-Pass Church of Christ.
Survivors include Flora Barnes of Idabel, four daughters. Mrs. Cleo Moore of Idabel, Mrs. Elizabeth Schlesselman of Lufkin, Texas, Mrs. Billie Douthit of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Patsy Graves of Price, Calif.; two brothers, Charlie Barnes of Idabel, and Thomas Barnes of Ontario, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Wright of los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Lotti Harris of Idabel, 19 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren.
