Mrs. Burgess was a pioneer Christian woman. She came to Minnesota with her husband and two children in 1869 during the turbulent period following the Civil war and the Indian outbreak. Settling in Blue Earth County, 10 years later moving to Sauk Centre. After living here 18 years they moved to Sisseton, S. D., where Mr. Burgess died in 1904. In the same year she moved to Wyndmere, N.D., where she continued to reside until 1914 when she moved to Alexandria and in 1921 because of failing health came to Sauk Centre.
