Jewell Dillehay, 83, Hermitage Springs, Tenn., died Feb. 12, 2004 at the Monroe County Medical Center.
She was a member of the Hermitage Springs Church of Christ.
Born in Clay County, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Betty (Davis) Veatch and the wife of Connie Dillehay, who survives. They were married Jan. 12, 1946.
Other than her husband, survivors include two daughters, Joann Dillehay and Donnie Tooley, both of Hermitage Springs; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Harold and Dorothy Dillehay and Connie Wayne Dillehay, all of Hermitage Springs, and Homer Dillehay, Madison, Tenn.; a sister, Geneva West, LaPlace, Ill.; four grandchildren — Anna and Mark Pennington, both of Hermitage Springs; Melissa Hammer (and her husband Tim), Tompkinsville; and Tommy Dillehay (and his wife, Kathy), Lafayette, Tenn.; and six great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Josh and Brooke Dillehay and Timothy, Emma and Jessie Hammer.
A daughter, Alberta Pennington; two sons-in-law, Cloy Pennington and Jackie Tooley; a grandson, Ian Tooley; five sisters, Beaulah York, Effie Crawford, Mae Brandon, and Daisy and Edna Veatch; and four brothers, Victor, William Henry, Edgar and Richard Veatch, all preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 16 in the chapel of the Phillip Anderson and Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., with Jimmy Cook officiating. Burial was at the Biles Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Jerry and Tommy York, Michael Bean, Tommy Dillehay, Timmy Hammer, Russell Cherry and Phillip Smalling. Honorary pallbearers were Shirley Tuck; Juanita West; Woneda Powell; Nina, Evelyn and Adell Birdwell; Blanche Carver; Geraldine Smalling; Pearline Browning; Mildren Bean; Louise Davis; and Cecil Lyons.
