Danny lifted off from the Pilots Ridge airstrip in his Seawind 3000 amphibious aircraft to pick up a guest that was going to be on the radio show with him. He never arrived at his destination in Danville, Va. Alvis hosted a weekly show The Big Talker FM radio station out of Wilmington NC. He was a retired from the Army as a captain and started a second career as an estate planner and investment counselor. He was born on the Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, the son of Leroy and Alma Alvis of Wausau, WI. Danny graduated from D. C. Everest High School in Wausau, WI and then joined the United States Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne, 10th Special Forces Group, and 1st Special Forces Group. He was highly decorated and the recipient of many awards for his faithful service to his country. He received his Bachelor of Science and master's degree from the University of Washington. Following his discharge from the U S Army, he became a certified estate planner. He relocated to Wilmington, NC to help care for his aging In-laws. In Wilmington, NC, he pursued a second career in estate planning, real estate developing, and hosted a radio talk show "It's Your Money". Danny enjoyed teaching and participating in scuba diving, hang gliding, sky diving, and high speed driving. He was actively involved in numerous civic and charity efforts, car club activities and having fun with his family and friends, Danny lived by his motto "there is no try, only do." Andrews Mortuary
