James B. Terhune, 90, died at 12:10 p.m. Thursday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Helen Brown, west of Carthage, after having been ill for seven months. He had lived in Rush County for 50 years, and was engaged in the farming business.
The deceased was born in Decatur County November 11, 1872, son of Luke and Cemantha Miller Terhune. He was married to Mattie J. Hand on January 13, 1897, who preceded him in death in 1959.
Survivors include a son, Albert Terhune, Rt. 1, Carthage; three daughters, Mrs. Brown at whose home he died, Mrs. Irma Shankland, Kendallville, and Mrs. Mary White, Greenfield, eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. C.O. Kinnett and Mrs. Arthur Hyatt, both of Greensburg, and a brother, Henry Terhune of Milroy.
The deceased was a member of the Fletcher Methodist Church in Carthage. Rites were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Glencove Cemetery, Knightstown.
