Mr. Sam Beasley, age 92, of the Cedar Crossing Community, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, in Meadows Health of Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs County, and lived in the Cedar Crossing area all of his life. He was a lifelong farmer, worked as a Meat Inspector for fifteen years with the Georgia Department of Agriculture, and was a self-employed businessman. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church. He came from a generation that learned and loved to hunt, fish, to love animals, including dogs, and to appreciate the outdoors. Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by a son, Larry Beasley; a great-grandson, Kayson Sharpton; parents, William and Melvina Sapp Beasley; a sister, Kathleen Beasley Stanley; two brothers, J.W. Beasley and Jack Beasley; and his beloved dachshund, Oscar.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Cedar Crossing Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends at the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church, P.O. Box 157, Uvalda GA 30473.
